PROGRAMMING AND PLAYING BASS

Hi, my name is Dave Herr. Thanks for visiting my site! I’m an IT Professional with a focus on Software Development, and a secondary career in music. By day, I'm managing the IT department of a local industrial distributor, while growing my skills in the ever-expanding world of software development and web design. By night, when I'm not out playing bass with the Tommy Z Band, The Chicago Authority, or other professional artists, I'm spending time with cherished family and friends, or studying the latest advancements in software engineering.

LOW NOTES

Dave Herr Music Bio: Dave has been playing bass since he was eleven years old, having started on piano and then switching to bass, following his guitarist-brother into Beatles and other classic rock cover bands. His early influences besides Paul McCartney include Tim Bogert and Louis Johnson. Playing in styles from Soul, to Jazz/Funk, to Christian Pop, Dave has performed with members of the Grammy-winning band Petra and recorded with multi-platinum producer John Armand Petri.

In 2010, Dave and other members of blues powerhouse, the Todd Eberwine Band, joined forces with members of Beautiful Bones to form original jam band Dive House Union. CODE

It's well-established that musicians tend to make good programmers! When I began my computer career years ago, I found this to be true. My early IT career consisted in implementing computer systems for small to medium-sized companies and modifying the software. Eventually I went to work for one of my larger clients to fill a role managing their entire IT system, all the while staying active in music. One seems to help the other: the order and creativity in music lends itself well to the organization, logic, and flow of computer programming. Technology, in turn, has greatly helped in the performing, recording, and distribution of music.

In my most recent career, I've been drawn to the expansive world of software development and particularly web development. My interests and skill set tend to be anchored in Microsoft Visual Studio. In that realm I've been spending time learning and creating, especially with C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and Flutter. I'd love to hear from you and connect!
